Abstract

The Braceros are a group of Mexican men that were contracted to work in the United States agricultural fields and railroads. These men came from many different states in Mexico to find work with better pay and  many times left behind their wives and children for long periods of time. Although it was an official program that lasted twenty years between two neighboring nations it ended up being a corrupt program that took advantage of the poor. It created wealth from cheap labor and left poverty stricken foreigners in a continuous poor state here in the United States.   This program not only grouped men into a labor force but also into a folk group that was away from home and family.
